TOEFL Coaching:
Enrolling for higher or continuing studies at a US university or college for undergraduate or graduate studies requires proficiency in the English language, which for many institutions is the standardized TOEFL test score. The exception of course, is for US citizens educated here, or in many cases students from English speaking countries. TOEFL scores are also mandatory for students applying to exchange programs, community colleges, or entering the country on a student visa. This score is important for acquiring a license or certification in a specialized field, such as Nursing or Finance.
TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language) is administered by ETS and the score is valid for 2 years from test date. There’s no pass or fail grade in the TOEFL test: most colleges and universities indicate a cut off for acceptance and hence your goal should be to reach the score, not necessarily retake tests to surpass it. And yes, you can take TOEFL multiple times.
TOEFL is computerized and Internet based (in most states), but is also available as a paper- or computer- based test in a few places. It runs about 3-3 ½ hours and is conducted on the same day. There are four sections of 20 minutes each, with a 10 minute break after two tasks.
At ESLGI our experienced instructors will help prepare you thoroughly for TOEFL or IELTS: from learning the test format to the various strategies of test taking and right up until mock tests. Preparing for these standardized tests requires a lot of commitment and focus, and we understand that many of our students come with their own set of challenges. We train our students in all the four tasks: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening, paying extra attention to grammar and vocabulary building. We plan our prep based on the student’s level and what their strengths and weaknesses are.
Our instructors work, not on a teacher-student equation, but as partners, because we are as invested in our students’ test scores as they are. Literally, their success is our own.
IELTS Coaching:
IELTS (The International English Language Testing System) is a test to determine the proficiency of people who wish to study, work, and/ or live in an English-speaking country. It is available in two formats and the scores are measured as a band on a scale of 1-9.
General:
This test band is mandatory for those planning to migrate to Canada, the UK, Australia, or New Zealand. The immigration to these countries specifies a minimum band based on which, applicants can apply to colleges/ universities, training programs, or employment.
Academic:
This band is necessary for secondary, undergraduate, and graduate programs or professional advancement in Canada, UK, or Australia/ New Zealand.
Both the IELTS tests are in written format, for the Reading, Writing, and Listening tasks. The Speaking task is conducted by an IELTS examiner either on the same day or within the week. The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.
